Back in 2021, our daughter’s best friend, Martha, suffered a sudden, terrifying asthma attack. The severity really took us by surprise, and she was rushed to hospital and placed into an induced coma.
Thankfully, Martha made a full recovery — but even after everything she’d been through, she still struggled to use her preventer inhaler, often refusing it altogether.
Her parents were worried she'd have a repeat attack, so wanting to help in any way he could, our founder Will had a simple but heartfelt idea. He made Martha a bright, playful case that slipped over her inhaler, transforming it from something scary into something fun.
Martha absolutely loved it. Her parents soon told us she’d given it a name — her “unicorn puff puff” — and, for the first time, she was asking to take her inhaler every single morning.
Will shared a short video on TikTok, casually talking about the inhaler case he’d made for Martha. He never expected what happened next. Almost instantly, hundreds of people began commenting and messaging, asking if he could make one for them too.
And just like that, The Inhaler Tailor was born.
Not long after, Will received a phone call that felt almost unreal — the BBC were asking if he’d like to appear on Dragons’ Den. Of course, he said yes.
Although he didn’t leave with funding, the Dragons genuinely loved the idea and what it stood for. The experience opened doors, leading to appearances on BBC News and beyond, and suddenly the word began to spread.
Watching the impact The Inhaler Tailor was having on families just like Martha’s, Harriet — Will’s wife — knew this was something special. She took a leap of faith, leaving her job at Haribo to join Will, and since 2023 the company has been proudly run by just the two of them.
Our girls see the difference every day. Many of their friends live with asthma, and they think the products are brilliant. Even though they don’t use inhalers themselves, they love helping out — a reminder that this has always been about family, care, and making something that truly helps.
